Cosy pubs & fine dining

We are lucky to have many amazing pubs and restaurants on our doorstep. From cosy, country pubs with roaring fires to Michelin Starred restaurants. From locally sourced home cooked grub to contemporary a la carte dishes created by famous chefs. Fantastic local ales and ciders to fine wines from overseas and local vineyards. Here are a few of our favourites with some website links for you to check facilities, menus and opening times. Some offer a take away service!

Foxhunter Inn

About a 40 minute walk through the countryside to the village of Nantyderry. Lovely home-cooked food and a warm and friendly welcome. Cosy fires, beer garden, canal walks and locally sourced ingredients. Quiz nights and sing-a-longs.

The Nags Head

A 10 minute drive to the market town of Usk. Fresh, local, seasonal produce including locally caught game. Sit outside and watch the world go by on Twyn Square with a glass of wine.

The Black Bear Inn

Drive for just 7 minutes to Bettws Newydd, Usk and experience an a la carte menu of seasonal British food which changes weekly. They're in the Michelin Guide this year!

The Walnut Tree

Famous since the 1960s, The Walnut Tree in Llanddewi Skirrid boasts a Michelin Star. Classical culinary tradition and outstanding, contemporary food. Only a 15 minute drive away.

The Clytha Arms

Award-winning warm and friendly country pub and restaurant with open log fires. Large gardens with lots of seats and tables and great children's play area. Amazing food and very dog friendly. Only a five minute drive away.

Craft Renaissance

This great little farm shop & kitchen is only a 5 minute drive away. It's our favourite place for takeaway Sunday dinner. Place your order, take some plates and pick up a delicious roast. A great café menu, amazing cakes and lots of local produce to stock up on. They also have takeaway afternoon tea service Monday to Saturday.

The Kings Arms

In Abergavenny town centre just opposite Castle Street car park. Great food at a great price with a real cosy, local pub feel. Have a quick snack, lazy lunch or delicious evening meal. Sit outside in St John's Square and watch the world go by.

Recently opened under new management with an exciting new menu, the Chainbridge Inn, Usk is less than 30 minutes walk away. Wander down for a sunday lunch and a few glasses of red.

The Horseshoe Inn

A 10 minute drive away, The Horseshoe is a great country pub in the Brecon Beacons National Park, set under the spectacular landscape of the Garn Wen and Mynydd Garnwen hills. Buzzards and Red Kites soar above with a cosy log fire and oil lamp ambience in winter.
